Apr 8 05: mild-eyed frenzy

Dear Friends and Loved Ones:

From now on, please address me as Brother Spikey Mace of Loving Kindness, for I have joined the revolution. Unitarian Jihad is the Keeper of the True Way, or at least of the Way That Seems To Make Sense And Allows For A Multiplicity Of Paths To Understanding, and it shall sweep the infidels away in a divine wind of reasonability.

Go read the press release. Just trust me. You’re likely to want your own revolutionary name, which is available here. Thanks to Electrolite for the tip.

Apr 4 05: why does the sun shine (primarily along specific ranges of wavelengths)?

The Sun is a mass of incandescent gas—
A giant nuclear furnace!
And space weather dot com got this groovy shot
Of it rising, seen through an H-alpha filter.

(H-alpha filters are tuned to the glow of solar hydrogen. Go to spaceweather.com and dial up the archives for March 28 for a further explanation.)

(With apologies to TMBG, although I bet they’d think the picture is cool, too.)
