Sep 6 06: dust
I’m back from Burning Man. I’ve been asked over and over what it was like, but I’m afraid I’ll need some days at least to process it before I can give an answer that will mean anything to anybody who hasn’t been there themselves.
It was strange, difficult, overwhelming, dusty, amazing. I wondered what the hell I was doing there sometimes; I had a marvelous time; I came back a different person in ways I can’t yet articulate. I got dirty, and didn’t get enough sleep. I saw cool stuff. I met many people.
Anyway, I’m back. When I get the various rolls of film—yeah, remember those?—processed, I’ll try to share the better results.
Commentary
I’m glad you’re back. One of the pictures in the NY Times slide show looked somewhat like I imagined your experience was (and looked a bit like you, too). It featured a gentleman cruising in an art car. The picture is taken in motion in such a way that everything is blurred but the guy and the look on his face and the fact that he’s sitting in the bony jaws of some kind of scuptural, high-speed beast. The look reads wild exhilaration.
I hope the experience hasn’t fostered some kind of art fallout sickness that expresses itself in mild creativity-autism. I’m sure that you’ll come round and it will all begin to trickle out…
I hope you can keep some of that electric feeling as you’ve returned—what is New York, if not 10 million people being creative together—and we have running water, too!

You have a great blog. I found your blog via Amy’s blog. Keep on knitting!
