Today’s lesson: always check your spam filter before flushing it out. Had I not done so this morning, I would never have found the note (dated June 30, which means that it was one of the 700+ spam-tagged items that arrived while we were in England) that began:

I am pleased to inform you that you have been accepted as a student for Viable Paradise.
Yowza. I did it. All you folks who beta-read “Slow” get a second helping of my undying gratitude.
Of course, now I have to pay for tuition and housing, but…wow. I can’t believe it.
